Stampin’ Up Cardstock and Chalk

Posted: February 22nd, 2009 by Jean

Just became a demonstrator with Stampin Up and have spent the past few days checking out some of the products I received with my starter kit. I had ordered two packages of 8-1/1 x 11 80 lb. cardstock - the Earth Elements and the Soft Subtles variety packs. (There are four variety packs available - the other two being Rich Regals and Bold Brights) The packages include 3 sheets each of 12 different colors - 36 sheets for $9.50. In the past I’ve bought my 8-1/2 x 11 cardstock (65 lb.) from Herrschners: Paper Accents - 25 sheets for $6.59 (light colors) or $8.79 (dark colors). Stampin Up will be my first choice in future. It’s a heavier cardstock which makes it a better choice for the paper piecing I like to do for my scrapbook pages and I can buy the variety packs - which I can’t do with Herrschners. (You have to buy 25 sheets of one color!) I plan on buying the other two variety packs when I place my next order. A couple pictures below of some of the piecing I’ve done using the new cardstock. The colors are gorgeous. Also used the Stampin Up chalk which is as good as any quality chalk I’ve used in the past. It’s a soft chalk and the applicator picks it up easily and spreads it nicely on the paper. A little pricey at $30.95 but comparable in price to other good chalks considering the Stampin Up includes 51 different shades. Definitely recommend it.

The caption beneath the pictures that follow are the color names of the cardstock.

Finished the Best Friends layout this afternoon - just in time for Valentine’s Day. What a great layout to pop in pictures of you and your best bud. Check the link at the right. Raggedy Ann and Andy are patterns from Precious Piecings by Lisa and the letterings and embellishments, compliments of the Cricut.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Cricut Cards

Fooling around with the Cricut and put together a few cards for fun. I found the cut file for Spiderman online. The address is: http://cricutbutterflies.blogspot.com/2008/02/spider-man.html. One of the nice things about making cards is that they are so fast to do.

Black and White

Posted: February 2nd, 2009 by Jean

For me, the most difficult part of putting together a scrapbook layout is choosing a suitable color scheme. This month’s students have decided they want their next layout to be in a classic black and white so I put together a b/w layout for myself to see how it looked. Check out Little Stinker at the right. This layout will showcase my grandson in his Halloween costume - but it has definite overtones of Valentines Day.

It will be interesting to see what we put together over the next couple weeks.
