Still another CASE - Happy Mother’s Day

Posted: April 26th, 2010 by Jean

Looking through a Paper Wishes catalogue and came across a card with the sentiment Mom You Taught Me to Fly which I thought was an incredibly lovely sentiment to use on a Mother’s Day card . Printed the sentiment on white cardstock and made the card below. The stamped images are from the Stampin’Up set Great Friend. The card base is Stampin’Up cardstock: Elegant Eggplant. The card is much prettier than it photographed but it’s late in the evening and the lighting is not great. If I don’t give this particular card to my mom for Mother’s Day - it will be one very much the same.

Stamp-a-ma-jig

Posted: April 26th, 2010 by Jean

Just putting in a plug for the Stampin’ Up stamp-a-ma-jig. I’ve had this little gadget for well over a year and used it for the first time this week. The stamp-a-ma-jig is a stamp positioner. For perfect alignment of sentiments and images, you can’t lose with this tool. $16.95 and worth every penny. It just became one of the tools I will keep at arm’s length from here on in.

Another CASE

Posted: April 24th, 2010 by Jean

Haven’t had too many takers on this particular challenge - perhaps everyone else uses their magazines - but it’s doing wonders for me. Here’s another cased card from the same magazine: PaperCrafts November/December edition 2009, page 13, Thinking of You card designed by Mercedes Weber. I used the Martha Stewart clear Butterfly stamp, colored my image with Copics and then cut out. Hoping to use some glossy accents later today to really make it pop! Also used the Stampin’Up Inspired by Nature stamp for the grass. Ribbon was picked up in a bin at Michael’s. Punched the moon with a 1-1/4″ circle punch and inked the base of the grass with Stampin Up’s Pumpkin Pie. Have yet to add a sentiment to the front bottom of the card - not sure what I want there just yet. Thanks for looking and have a great Saturday. I’m heading off to babysit Sam. We’ll be spending the night so not sure how that will work out.  Hopefully he sleeps right through the night -  Grammy likes her sleep! You still have another week to get your challenge done - I’m thinking most of you are like me - you just like to look at your magazines! :)

School Friends

Posted: April 21st, 2010 by Jean

Here is another  CASE for Challenge #5. I was inspired by a Back to School card  (designer - Susan Liles) I found in the November/December 2009 edition of Paper Crafts.

The school bus is an Imaginisce Snag ‘em Stamp I picked up somewhere for $1.29. This was the first time I used it. Stamped it on yellow cardstock and cut around the image. Colored the STOP sign red, the bumpers dark gray. That’s about it. I personalized this card for a friend but you could print pretty much anything here.  I’m really pleased with how the card looks and will probably find a reason to make a couple more. Doing great with my challenge so far!

First CASE this week

Posted: April 19th, 2010 by Jean

This one was pretty simple - but after I finished the Saturday Sketch, wanted to CASE something quick and easy. I was inspired by a card designed by Tami Mayberry in the May 2010 edition of CardMaker Magazine. I have a little set of acrylic stamps - coffee/tea theme - but the original packages is gone so not sure whose stamp se this is. The paper? Again, just scraps!

Sketch Saturday

Posted: April 19th, 2010 by Jean

One of the ladies who participated in our last challenge put me on to Sketch Saturday at http://sketchsaturday.blogspot.com and while my own challenge is to CASE from a magazine I already own, I saw this sketch and knew right away what card I wanted to do. This cute little fellow is Bigsby, a free digital image from Karen to celebrate her 100 followers (many many more now - her images are adorable!) and available at http://www.karensdoodles.blogspot.com . I’ve colored him up with my Copics - the paper?  just scraps!

Just Scraps Challenge #5 - Magazine CASE

Posted: April 18th, 2010 by Jean

Sunday evening and I’m done for the day - just this post to finish and then I’ll curl up on the couch with a book or magazine. I love to read though don’t do nearly as much as I did before I began scrapbooking and then cardmaking. I’m also a magazine junkie and papercraft/card/scrapbook magazines are now piling up along side all the other craft magazines I know I should get rid of. I keep my magazines - like forever. Isn’t that crazy? My sister will come visit me and leave with a stack of magazines. Six months later I’ll visit her and bring home another stack. This has been ongoing - back and forth - for years and years - the same magazines often traveling several times between our two homes.

So….. this week’s challenge? Pull out one of  those magazines you’ve purchased - for inspiration, ideas and/or patterns - and actually use it. Wow - a novel idea for me! Think I’ll aim for a card a day cased from my mags. We’ll see….

You have until Sunday, May 2nd to leave a link to your project using the Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post. Mr. Linky will close on that date and we’ll have another random draw for a little blog candy.

Have a great day and congrats to Vikki of http://vikkithescrapjunkie.blogspot.com who won our little bit of blog candy this week.

Hello baby

Posted: April 18th, 2010 by Jean

My apologies - again - to the creator of this cute little digi.  When I download freebies, I try to take note of the source but far too often I lose the scrap of paper I note it on.  Rarely can quote the source in my post.  Hardly fair to those artists who give so generously of their time and talent so I’ve decided I’ll be much more vigilant in future. Help me out - if you recognize the image, let me know.

Update:

Thank you Ardilla for  forwarding the info I requested. Here’s the site where I downloaded the digi:

Ardilla, by the way, has a great list of digital stamp sites and well as another list of available blog candy on her sidebars. Check her out at http://tarjetasdeardilla.blogspot.com

The teddy is perfect on these cards. Inside sentiment:  Hello Baby

Belated Birthday Greetings

Posted: April 18th, 2010 by Jean

#1 son celebrated his 27th on Thursday. I finished his card on Friday - I did give him a lovely store-bought on Thursday - shame, oh shame - but it’s been that kind of a week. Plodding along at home all week trying to tuck two tons of stuff into a one ton space and busy at work as well. Threw out my back on Friday - what did I do? I moved - turned my head - that’s it! Can you believe it? Wasn’t sure I could have my grandson with me Friday night but he came for a few hours after all and was quite understanding of Grammy’s bad back. He didn’t want to ’spend’ anyway (spend means stay all night) - don’t think he’s totally cool with Grammy’s new digs yet.

A couple days late, but here’s the card. Purchased the image from Mo’s Digital Pencil a while back specifically for my son’s upcoming birthday. I think he may have been born with a control pad in his hand and at 27, he’s as much into gaming as ever he was, except perhaps from a different angle. He owns a number of on-line sites, www.gamesnipe.com being one of his more active. This image of Mo’s Video Kid seemed perfect for his birthday card. Colored it up with Copics.

Blog Candy for Challenge #4 You’ve Been Tagged

Posted: April 18th, 2010 by Jean

Haven’t done the draw yet - you still have a couple hours to post - but here’s a picture of the goodies I’ll be putting in the mail tomorrow. Thought these little parcels were appropriate for a tag challenge.

Now .  .  .  back to Sam who is spending the day with Grammy. He’ll be nine weeks old tomorrow.
