Just Scraps - Challenge #6 - just scraps - many shades of yellow
Can you believe it? May already! I love the month of May - spring is finally here - though we did have snow yesterday - and in spite of our predictably unpredictable weather, there is an end in sight. Beautiful long summer days just around the corner. And my birthday is in May - right on the tail end of it! Don’t you just love parties?
Seems I was off to a good start with the challenges here at Just Scraps but the magazine challenge sent scrappers scurrying in another direction so I’ve decided to keep it simple. Just Scraps challenges will be just that: From here on in, I’m asking you to dip into your scrap stash each week and use just scraps - or at least a few scraps along with your good stuff. This week you have to use a little yellow.
Why yellow? Took Max to McDonald’s today. For the first time ever, he decided to do a little climbing - up the plastic tube he went. I swear I hardly took my eyes off him but next thing I hear is Max bawling frantically because he couldn’t get down. So what does a frantic Grammy do but climb up after him. Too funny! Max watches this show called The Wonder Pets. These little animals go out and rescue other animals - just like I rescued Max. Grammy, I was informed, was just like Ming Ming, the little yellow duck. Hence the yellow.
One other change: We’re going from posting a challenge every second Sunday to EVERY Sunday. For the month of May, our prize sponsor is Paper and Piecings. Our random prize winner each week in May gets to choose three free paper piecing patterns - your choice - from Paper and Piecings.
Here’s my card - square scraps of yellow dp and an elephant cut from scraps of yellow cardstock. I took the picture before I’d quite finished the card. Stamped in the bottom corner is Hello Baby. The inside is stamped with another elephant and the sentiment Welcome.
Okay my scrappin’ friends, you have until Sunday, May 9th to leave a link to your project - card, layout, ATC, any paper project - using the Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post. Mr. Linky will close on that date and we’ll have a random draw for those darling paper piecing patterns.
Have a great week and thanks so much for playing along!
Congrats to Claire who won this week’s little bit of blog candy. Email me with your snail address at justscraps.ca@gmail.com, Claire, and I’ll get a parcel in the mail.

How exciting to be your lucky winner Jean, I’m a very happy bunny. Thank you so much.
I love your story about taking Max to McDonalds - sooooo funny. I think its a great idea to use scraps in your challenge - I must have guessed as I’ve just organised my huge box of scraps in to different colours so I’m ready to go
Thanks again,
Claire xx

Hi, Jean! I love your scraps idea…and i love ming ming! my kids (too old for wonder pets now) were singing the song with my nephew in the car this weekend…too cute! I hope I have time to try the yellow ming ming challenge! I wanted also to tell you about the stamp on which you commented on my blog. (I don’t see an email address for you on the blog, so i’m leaving it here) the image you liked is actually a rubber image…it can be found here: http://www.ibrakeforstamps.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=A756&Category_Code=HUMO. the site is called “i break for stamps” and Sweatin’ Mildred is found in the “humorous seniors” category if hte link doesn’t work. Thanks for stopping by! Shannon

Thanks for visiting my blog and informing me about this challenge. This is right up my alley, as I once challenged myself to sit one afternoon a week and use only scraps from my scrap piles, which are everywhere. I have scraps bagged by color families, and a big bin I keep just at my feet where I stamp that the overflow goes into. I’ve been working from that bin for weeks now and haven’t made a dent.
I’ll be here each week. I love this challenge, and am glad to have found it, thanks to you!!

This is such a fantastic card, the little yellow elephant fits so perfectly with the overall design. And I know who you are talking about-my boys love the Wonder Pets! Word of advice, their little jingle can really stick in your head, and that’s not necessarily a good thing!

Glad you like my work and thanks for the comments on my blog. Here’s an iris-folding teddy which was perfect for using up my scraps.
