A little more brown

Posted: May 28th, 2010 by Jean

In keeping with this week’s challenge, I used a few scraps of brown - big and small - to make these two cards using patterns from Paper and Piecings. Everyone who plays along this week gets a free pattern and while these are most often used in scrapbooking, they also look cute on cards. I didn’t size these patterns at all - used them exactly as they were but they can easily be made smaller with a scanner or photocopier. I’m assuming most people will just be using the pdf file. If you are using the cutting files, you can size those easily too.

Flip the Frog is perfect for so many occasions:   If you need me, call. I’m as close as your back pocket!      You’ve got me in your back pocket, sweetheart!      Toadally awesome news!      Toadally into you!     Hoppy birthday!      Hop you’re feeling better.      And one for the grandchildren: I’ve tucked in a greenback. Treat yourself!

And then for Dad, there’s Hubert. Inside I’ve stamped Make today a play day! and then Happy Birthday!

These are so much brighter than they photograph this morning. I think the sun has forgotten us here in Newfoundland. You still have until Sunday to play along with this week’s challenge and choose any pattern you like from Paper and Piecings just for participating. And how cool is that? Have a great day!

A little bit of brown - a little bit of color.

This is the prototype of the wedding name tags. Not great lighting, not a great picture, but you get the idea. My niece will be married outside in her parents’ garden and they have an absolutely fabulous garden so the decorating ‘theme’ is flowers, flowers, and more flowers - in every color of the rainbow.

Also working on a scrapbook I started a couple weeks ago at retreat after seeing a very similar album one of the ladies had completed. I love the paper (Stampin’Up) and was able to use lots of scraps of brown - big and small. This was a joy to do. I am truly blessed with two beautiful grandsons.

Just Scraps Challenge #9 - Chocolate Chip with a Splash of Color

Posted: May 24th, 2010 by Jean

Sorry for the late post but it’s the May 2-4 weekend and here in my part of the world that’s a very big deal - the kick off to summer. I’ve been in holiday mode so last night forgot all about posting to my blog.

Saturday was the day of the big launch for us - a little disapppointing as one of the pumps wasn’t working right and we had to pull her up again. Max, however, was thrilled with all the excitement - he still got to eat his lunch on the boat. haha.

After we pulled the Northern Lights home again, we went to visit friends and from there we took our boy home. “This was a great day, Grammy”, he said - Is your glass half empty, Max, or half full?

Sunday it was Sam’s turn. Sam isn’t quite as active as Max just yet, but still takes up all our attention when he visits. DH had him chuckling away here. He’s sitting up like a big boy!

Today I’m spending in the loft. DH just put a fire in - it’s all of two degrees! I have some wedding favors to work on for my niece’s upcoming wedding - chocolate chip with a splash of color so ……. this week I challenge you to use just that - a scrap of brown with a splash of color. I’ll post pictures of my own work later today.

Hope you had a safe weekend and that there are lots of good things in store for you this week. I have a birthday on the horizon - next Sunday actually, so to everyone who participates this week, I’ll send a pattern from paperandpiecings.com - your choice. This is the last week our challenge will be sponsored by Paper and Piecings. Something new next week so here’s your chance to get your favorite pattern for free.

You have until Sunday, May 30th to leave a link to your creation -  card, layout, ATC, any paper project - using the Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post. Mr. Linky will close on that date.

Congratulations to Yvonne whose name we drew this week. Email me Yvonne at justscraps.ca@gmail.com with your pattern choice and I’ll get that to your right away.l Thanks to everyone who played along!

Happy Scrapping!
