Just Scraps Challenge #14 - Make mine a Double Double

Posted: June 28th, 2010 by Jean

Hurrah! Hurrah! Holidays at last. Two months of R and R. Gotta love it. Started digging out a little yesterday - and I have a lot of digging out to do, trust me.

ONE: My house needs some major attention. The dust bunnies have taken over and

TWO: my craft room is in disarray with serious need of organization. So, my challenge this week is TWOfold.

ONE: Get rid of some of that unfinished business on your desk - I have tons of stuff started and not finished and suspect many of you are in the same boat.  And

TWO: Whatever your creation, try DOUBLING something up.

Got my inspiration here. Made a trip in over the road yesterday to do a little shopping and brought back these outfits for the two boys - DOUBLE everything these days when I shop. lol

Tonight I did a little organizing in the loft and also finished these cards - parts of which have been lying about as ‘unfinished business’. This first one repeats the word Memories. There are also two clocks on the card front. The image is Mo Manning’s Late. I saw the most fabulous creation using this particular image on his blog - gorgeous - mine comes nowhere near that and I’m not sure what I’ll do with such a large clunky card - but I do like the whole Alice think I see going on in cards these days. I read Alice in Wonderland as a child - have to say I didn’t particularly like it. My Mom had this whole set of children’s classics and I read them all. Tales of Arabian Nights was probably my favorite.

This next one has two flowers. Have used this image before. I think it’s darling.

This one has the two mice. The cute little crochet flower is the corner is one of several my Mom crocheted for me. At seventy-nine, her fanciwork is second to no one’s. The card is no big deal - not my best coloring for sure but it was lying around and fit the bill.

Can’t honestly say I’m particularly pleased with any of these cards - though I do like the froggie - but perhaps I’ll have better luck today.

Also sent off a stack of cards for a swap I’m participating in. I love receiving all the cards in return. I haven’t entered in many but if you know of a good one, drop me a line. I think these are really pretty. I like the pocket on the front and the 3D flower. Doesn’t fit into the challenge but thought I’d post anyway.

swap

This challenge will run for TWO weeks - ends Sunday, July 10th at which time I am going to choose my favorite entry for the blog candy. I usually make a random draw, but this time I’m changing it up a little, to make it just a little more interesting.

Be sure to link up to Mr. Linky below and have a great day. This is officially Day One of my holidays and while the temp is only about 15 degrees, I’m sure I’ll find something to do outside.

(Not sure why these little red x’s appeared - ignore while I try to get rid of them)

And Congrats to Design NeAl who won this week’s little bit of blog candy. Contact me at justscraps.ca@gmail.com with your snail mail address and I’ll get a little package in the mail to you this week.

Just Scraps Challenge #12 - Butterflies, Flowers and Birds

Posted: June 13th, 2010 by Jean

I have to apologize big time - I’m not ignoring my blog - I am just swamped right now with so many other things that I’m finding very little time to scrap or blog! On the up side, summer holidays start in just two weeks and I will have eight weeks to play! The little I have been doing has everything to do with buttlerflies, flowers and birds - favors for the upcoming wedding. So that’s my challenge - create something - anything - with butterflies, flowers, and birds - as long as it’s not a name tag! When you do hundreds, it gets a little ho-hum. :) But what a great way to use up scraps!

Looks like I am not the only one flat out busy - not a whole lot of scrappers participating this week - and so to those of you who have, a great big thank you! I do so enjoy your visits and am feeling pretty guilty about not being a good hostess - promise things will be back to normal soon.

Congratulations Susan! Your name was randomly drawn for this week’s blog candy. Email me your snail address at justscraps.ca@gmail.com and I’ll get a little package in the mail to you this week.

Get to work on those layouts, cards, ATCs, or 3D projects. Can’t wait to see them! You have until Sunday, June 20th to leave a link to your creation using the Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post. Mr. Linky will close on that date and we will draw for a bit of blog candy.

Just Scraps Challenge #10 - Dandelion Yellow

Posted: May 30th, 2010 by Jean

Happy Birthday to me! What a great day! We had sunshine - I can hardly believe it! A balmy ten degrees and we’re rolling up the shirt sleeves, throwing aside the jackets and rolling out the barbecue. Never mind that the rest of Canada is basking in temperatures two to three times greater! The dandelions are popping up everywhere. Gotta love those sunny little flowers. They are so so hardy - as are we! Bet my bottom dollar everyone at work tomorrow will be talking about what a beautiful day Sunday was. Yep! Like I said, a balmy plus ten. We are so so easy to please . . .

In addition to having a delicious barbecued supper and a CHOCOLATE birthday cake - a real treat as all my crowd like everything and anything but chocolate -  I got to have the family here to share it with me. Preparation time - 0; clean up time - 0. I love the whole being pampered thing. If it wasn’t for getting older, I’d have a birthday EVERY day. The boys gave me a whole bunch of scrapbooking stuff: two Cricut cartridges, stamps, paper, containers. Such fun! Will play with those goodies later this week as I work with my yellow scraps.

Yes, the challenge this week is to use a little yellow - a little splash of sunshine. Next Sunday we’ll draw one name for a bit of blog candy apropo to the occassion.

So get to work on those layouts, cards, ATCs, or 3D projects. Can’t wait to see them! You have until Sunday, June 6th to leave a link to your creation  using the Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post. Mr. Linky will close on that date.

Just Scraps Challenge #5 - Magazine CASE

Posted: April 18th, 2010 by Jean

Sunday evening and I’m done for the day - just this post to finish and then I’ll curl up on the couch with a book or magazine. I love to read though don’t do nearly as much as I did before I began scrapbooking and then cardmaking. I’m also a magazine junkie and papercraft/card/scrapbook magazines are now piling up along side all the other craft magazines I know I should get rid of. I keep my magazines - like forever. Isn’t that crazy? My sister will come visit me and leave with a stack of magazines. Six months later I’ll visit her and bring home another stack. This has been ongoing - back and forth - for years and years - the same magazines often traveling several times between our two homes.

So….. this week’s challenge? Pull out one of  those magazines you’ve purchased - for inspiration, ideas and/or patterns - and actually use it. Wow - a novel idea for me! Think I’ll aim for a card a day cased from my mags. We’ll see….

You have until Sunday, May 2nd to leave a link to your project using the Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post. Mr. Linky will close on that date and we’ll have another random draw for a little blog candy.

Have a great day and congrats to Vikki of http://vikkithescrapjunkie.blogspot.com who won our little bit of blog candy this week.
