Greek International

Posted: January 23rd, 2011 by Jean

Last night we met at a friend’s home for our monthly dinner club. This month’s International was Greek and what a fabulous evening. Great food; great company. We sat to dine just past six and finished the last course after ten. Fakes  to begin - then ouzo - Dolmadakia with calamari and Spanakopita - more ouzo - Souvlaki - a little more ouzo - Lamb with potatos for the main meal - think I opted out on the Ouzo this time - and Rizogalo for dessert.  Opa!!!

Before supper, however, did get a chance to finish off a few cards. The Happy Birthday is a CASE from a lady I met at a StampinUP weekend retreat. A nice masculine card. Clean and simple. I like this stamp.

The Valentine card uses a digital image from Make It Crafty. This particular image is called Geeky Love and I’ve colored up half a dozen of these with my Copics:  E00, 11, R20, R27, 29, 39, YG13, 45, E51, C3, 5, 7, 100, E, 33, 34, 35, B91, 95. The Yes, No, Maybe stamp was from the dollar bin at Michaels, I believe. Can’t touch Zoe’s card on the Make it Crafty site, but I’m pleased with it.

And here are my own two very special Valentines!

You’ve Got Mail

Posted: January 20th, 2011 by Jean

I’m not a big fan of chick flicks but have to admit I loved Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve got mail seemed the perfect sentiment for this flirtatious little bunny. Prairie Fairy is having a design team call and this is the freebie they’ve provided. He is adorable - looks a little naughty, a little nice - and I’ve colored him up with my Copics - so so easy to color as I’ve only used a half dozen plus colors - C1, C3, RV04, RV06, YG11, YG13 and a little R20 on the ears. This particular card is a Valentine but I have other plans for this little guy. My next scrapbook layout is going to be titled ” Some Bunny loves you and that Bunny is me! ” I have the perfect pics of Sammy and Max. Can’t wait to get started this weekend.

Digital stamps are great for resizing to fit your project and little Mr. Rabbit looks to be an image that will be very easy to cut and manipulate. Just happenchanced on Prairie Fairy and would so love to be part of their team.

Have a great day!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Posted: January 2nd, 2011 by Jean

Hello and Merry Christmas. It’s been quite a while - things became incredibly hectic there for a bit and I avoided my home computer because it seemed just a little too much like work - and when your fun stuff becomes work stuff - time to ease up.

I’m over that now and enjoying a lovely Christmas with family. Also spending a little time blog hopping about and catching up on a few of my favorite sites.

We’re having a green Christmas - still no snow on the ground. Unreal - anyone who questions global warming needs to have a close look at the changes in our climate here in Newfoundland. For the past couple weeks it’s been nothing but wind - vicious northeast winds at that - and rain. The wind has finally dropped out and today feels like March rather than January.

Here’s my Max exchanging a word with Santa. Looks like there might be a little magic in the air in addition to all that wind!

Now that I’m blog hopping again, I am finding plenty of inspiration. Have a beautiful day was a case. Very simple. Printed the sentiment on my computer, stamped the fluffy dandelion in the background and used my Big Shot to diecut the daisy. I scored the edges to jazz it up a little. The beautiful chunky brands were in a Christmas package and perfect for this card. Love it.

Also came across this digi from Sassy Cheryl’s and turned it into a Valentine. Colored it up with my Copics and used the Kiss and XO stamps to embellish. Can see this being a favorite because of its oh so many possibilities. Thinking of you, here’s a hug - Beary Best Wishes - A Birthday hug, etc.

Snoopy was a free digi I downloaded. I stamped the background paper with paw prints and added the shoe embellishment to jazz it up a little.

Also trying to finish off a few cards I’ve had lying about in bits and pieces - like these baby cards.

Came across a video on the bleaching technique so tried my hand at that this week. Found the sentiment online - cased that and the layout. Amazing - figured for sure I’d have a mess but the only thing bleached was the card.

Plan on a quiet day here. It’s back to work tomorrow and I need to do a little housecleaning. We had family for dinner yesterday and plenty of turkey and ham left so lunch - and dinner - are taken care of. DH is off moose hunting and I’m hoping he gets his moose this time.

Here are my two grandchildren once again with wishes for a great new year. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
