Just Scraps Challenge #18 - Fussy Cutting

Posted: August 22nd, 2010 by Jean

Thanks so much to everyone who participated in our last challenge. Einat, I pulled your name out of the butter tub this week and if you send me your snail address, I’ll get a little package in the mail.

Came across the term ‘fussy cutting’ on someone’s blog a little while back and just loved the phrase - don’t know if it’s original to that particular person or if it’s a phrase common to the craft.  No matter, I love it. Fussy cutting -perfect description for some of the work behind so many of the cards and layouts I see so many of you do. And certainly perfect for this one. Don’t know why on earth I’d choose a card with ‘fussy cutting’ for a card swap - I have to do twenty plus - but I’m hoping everyone will like it. I do.

Soooo - challenge for this fortnight: Let`s see a little fussy cutting on your card or layout.

Be sure to sign on with Mr. Linky below. Mr. Linky closes again in two weeks, Sunday, September 5th - can you believe it, the summer is almost gone! -at which time I’ll draw for a little candy. Have a great week and thanks for coming back!

Weekend Retreat

Posted: May 2nd, 2010 by Jean

Another weekend with my scrapping buddies. Got together Friday night and all day Saturday.  A couple pictures of some of the things we worked on.

Kelley is getting ready for a three day field trip with 40+ students

Scrapbooking?

Scrapbooking?

but still has time to finish off a Graduation album she is doing for a special young lady.

Yvonne had some fabulous winter pictures of her grandchildren as well as pictures of the kids dressed up in their grandfather’s fire fighting gear.

Don’t have a picture of Kim this time - think I was too taken up with her layout - fabulous as usual! Kim spent the weekend working on this layout: Love the different textures of the honeycomb and love that bee! (Cricut)

I finished up two layouts - one for a friend who wanted a ‘boy’ layout - I think most little boys like robots - for sure they’re all programmed for play!

. . . and one for Max who is learning to ride his tricycle. This paper Abbey Road was perfect!

We all swapped 12 x 12 papers - sooooo hard to choose -  and Kim won the scrapper’s tote full of cool stuff to play with.  Getting together again in late June and if you’d like  to join us, we’d love to have you!

Six of One - Half a Dozen of the Other

Posted: January 29th, 2010 by Jean

Six of one and half a dozen of the other is a phrase we use here in Newfoundland when trying to choose between two very similar options.

We are in the planning stage of another scrapping weekend and have all agreed to bring along a six-pack of our favorite 12 x 12 design papers to swap.

I’ve finally decided on what I will part with - I think - and it’s mostly double-sided paper with both sides equally fun. If I had to choose the best side - well, it would be six of one and half a dozen of the other!

Here’s my paper! I love the Bo Bunny ‘boy stuff’. Love the browns and greens and golds. The blackboard print I’ve used a lot in school layouts. The trick or treat paper is another I’ve used a lot - in Halloween layouts - and I stock up when I see it. My Camp paper I used in my May 24 layout. Perfect!
