Happy Birthday GiGi

Posted: March 5th, 2011 by Jean

My grandchildren call their Great Grandma GiGi (GG for great grandma - we stuck the i’s in there for spelling I guess). I thought GiGi was pretty cute until I heard about Big. The little ones in a friend’s family call their Grandma Nan. Great Grandma was Big Nan, but got shortened to Big. Now that’s cute.

Here are GiGi and Max. Mom celebrated her 80th yesterday and today we’re all getting together for supper. Mmmmmm! Can’t wait.

Just a Little Note

Posted: March 1st, 2011 by Jean

I’ve been spending some quality time this week with sister, Jackie, who is here for Mom’s birthday. We are all getting together this coming weekend to celebrate her 80th - a simple family dinner as per Mom’s request. She doesn’t want any ‘foolishness’. Kay, my older sister, will be arriving later in the week. My two sisters are fabulous in the kitchen - a talent/interest I don’t share. Something we do share, however, is a life long interest in crafting - thanks to Mother probably - and right now, Jackie and I are both paper junkies. We’ve been having sooo much fun in the loft. In spite of incredibly high winds and a chill in the loft that the old wood stove just can’t dissipate, we’ve spent hours up there this week ‘playing’.

Jackie has created some darling little purses using the pattern Tres Chic Handbags by Becky Roberts and has taken advantage of my various sentiment stamps to finish off quite a few of her own cards.

I’ve been trying to finish off a few cards as well but keep coming back to these little note cards. They’re fast, easy and oh so cute. I bought my 3 x 3 envelopes from Stampin’ Up. Jackie, however, made her own - over 100! I told her she was nuts.  You color in front of the TV, Jean; I cut envelopes in front of the TV. Fair enough! Anyway, I used the Martha Stewart apple punch - easily one of my favorites. Punch one red apple, trim off stem and leaf, punch one green apple and glue the two together. The yellow notepad is a Snag ‘em stamp from imaginisce (2 or 3 dollar stamp) and  just a little note is from the Apple Blossom Stampin’ Up set.

The Hello stamp used in this one is also from a Stampin Up set and the telephone is cut on the Cricut (Kitchen cartridge) at 1-1/4 inches.

I did get a couple cards done - had some help with the housework which freed me up for play.

Haha. Max loves to help out, saving Grammy all kinds of time to work on her cards. These are all great digis I’ve used before and I’ve colored them all with my much loved Copics.

Snow, snow and more snow

Posted: February 16th, 2011 by Jean

Day Two and the blizzard warning continues though I do believe we must be on the tail end of the storm. Winds are still gusting to 120, however, and I see the occasional patch of blue. For the past two days it’s been whiteouts (with winds gusting to 143 km) so that little splash of color is a much welcome sight. Surely tomorrow things will return to normal. I have, at least, been productive with the cards.

My favorite uses a digital image from Teddy Bo and Company . Only just discovered this site and know I’ll go back. Colored both images with Copic Markers: E30, E51, E33, R20, (bear) R59, (heart) E18, E27,(boots) E13, (button) E18, E27, (hat) E11, E13, E19, (hat band) E34 E35, E37, R59,  (dresss)  E0000, E000, E40 (envelope). Used Stampin’ Up stamps for the sentiments. My lacklustre skills with the camera hardly do them justice. They are gorgeous!

Also used Maurice from  Pollycraft. Isn’t he darling?  Even in his skivvies!   Just realized I hadn’t finished coloring his pants. Will fix that after this post.

Also put Maurice on this Father’s Day card - no undies here.

Inside: Happy Fatherès Day to the Worldès Greatest Dad

Had a couple stamped images lying about already colored from the Gina K stamp set Just Be-Claws. The first is a Valentine, the second, a note card.

Inside: I think I'm in love. Happy Valentine's Day.

The following two use the digital image Super Genius from KennyK. I’ll personalize these as need be with a white gel pen - the first is a Get Well card; the second most likely a card for teacher. Any suggestions for the sentiments?

Mummu, a digital image from Mo Manning, is one of my all time favroites and I use it frequently in cards for seniors.

This last one uses a freebie I’ve had for quite some time. Sorry I can’t remember the source.

Sammy celebrated his first birthday yesterday. I didn’t get down to see him because of the storm but he had his party on Saturday and that I did get to. Here he is digging into his own special little cake, courtesy of Aunt Danita.

And in this one, the party’s over and it’s time to go home. Sam is chillin’ at the door waiting to go home while his Mom cleans up.

And here they are: my beautiful family.

Have a great day! Until next time,
